Tau

Tau have become my main army of late. I like the way they look and really like alot of the aspects of the army. Granted they are really weak in hand to hand but their versatility cannot be ignored when played by someone who knows how to use them. My army tends to be a mix of suits and mechanized. I went with the Sac'ea Sept colors as I just like the urban warfare look to them.

While I like the "xenos" races and think they look cool on their own, I personally want an all Tau look to my army and therefore have been doing some conversions to achieve this look. Thus far I have made my kroot, krootox rider, kroot hound and Vespid conversions. They need a little work mostly painting but I am pretty happy with the results.

My Vespid. It really bugs me there are no close combat Tau. Not that I think they should be good at it, I just like the idea of have Tau that are specifically made for close combat roles. At any rate, I made the suped up jet pack and I just liked the idea of them swinging that big pole arm. I am planning on taking that gold spike and converting it to be the firing node of the vespid gun.

The Krootox Rider. Like I said, I didn't want non Tau in my army so I came up with the idea of a heavy gun drone with spotter to represent my krootox rider. It still needs to be painted fully but I am happy with the results.

Kroot and Kroot Hound. This pic is a little blurry. I remodeled a fire warrior and added the kroot gun, kept off the shoulder pad and left off the back pack to give him a lighter less armored look. The kroot hound drone idea I just liked. I also wanted an all tau drone army and having a close combat drone I think is just cool. At any rate, I think the conversion looks good. I made a tau firewarrior drone, pic here.

Crisis Suits

My Shas'o and/ or Shas'el. He is a nice centerpiece for my army. I spent alot of extra time on converting him, adding the base detail and painting. He is my leader so I figured he needed to look the part.

The Command Vehicle

With Apocalypse coming I needed a command vehicle

to use some of the formations. On top of that, I have been wanting to make my vehicle chasis to be able to be reconfigured to be any of the vehicles available. So this is what I have come up with. on top of the sensor array that GW makes available, I came up with a conversion for the SMS that I think looks better. I have added an extra arial and want to add a few more.

Piranha

Most people don't like Pirahnas but I really do. When use correctly they can be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Especially if you arm them with seeker missiles and then manuever them to the side or rear armor of vehicles you markerlight.

The Broadside is obviously a forge world model. I have 3 of them but this is the only painted one. I love the forge world versions and will hopefully replace all my crisis suits with them. I like running the "deathrain" configuration on my crisis suits. They are almost garraunteed a hit with 2 strength 7 shots. Decent range and the ability to jump - shoot - jump make these great for anti armor or anti monstrous creature.

I made the front gun/ sensor array interchangable with a magnet in the gun mount and used a small piece of refrigerator magnet on the sensor or gun. I  also did the same thing with the smart missile system as mine always like to fall off when moving them. Lastly I added magnetized points on the underside for the seeker missiles.
